I am tired today. It comes from doing too much the day before. I am determined to finish my holiday decorating before the weekend is over, and I promised I would quit no matter what on Sunday.
The thing is, I seem to have this need to redo things in the process. It doesn’t effect me on a daily basis, but at the holidays suddenly things look like they need painting. Or moving around, or replacing.
Take the master bedroom for example. I started with the idea of this simple twig wreath, sprayed gold, hanging above the bed. Sounds harmless enough huh?
Well, after I glued the mirror in the center of it and hung it on the wall, I decided it would ever so much better on a striped feature wall.
I had a roll of extra contact paper laying around, and I recalled how easy it was to paint (we did this a lot in college). So, I bought some Benjamin Moore Phantom Mist paint (basically it’s a deep brownish black color).
I cut the paper in half length wise to make 10″ stripes and applied it to the wall 14″ between each stripe. I used some painters tape to help keep the base wall color clean.
I love the idea that when we are done renting here, I can just peel the stripes off the wall. How simple is that?
I had this fabulous glass chandelier sitting around for the last couple of months. It was a MAJOR SCORE FOR FREE on our church website. Can you believe it?
I don’t miss having a table lamp. Not at all. The last one I had fell on top of me in the middle of the night and scared me to death. I am DONE with bedside lamps.
Some new bedding made the room complete. Sheets are from Costco and they are wonderful 600 count cotton percale. LOVE THEM!
The paisley duvet and shams are Tahari from TJ Maxx.
I saw some very similar at Pottery Barn today, I got mine for half the price! Yeah!
Happy Saint Nick’s Day!
